a couple of months back i had the great fortune to be sitting on the beach during the peak of the orionids meteor shower. for hours i sat in my chair, beer in hand, gazing up like a five-year-old as meteors streaked across the night sky. i enjoyed the solidarity, but couldn't help to think of a few people who i knew would have enjoyed the sight as much as me.luckily for these people, the night of december 13th is supposed to offer up what astronomers are calling the best meteor shower display of 2007 - the geminids.
expect to start seeing meteor bursts in the eastern sky around 8 p.m., with the best of the shower coming around 2 a.m.
